Tausala Manaia Dance Group
The Tausala Manaia Dance Group is offering a free, ten-week pilot program designed to provide Samoan boys and girls residing in the Portland-Vancouver metro area with a rich cultural and educational experience. This program invites Samoan youth ages 5-13 to participate in weekly sessions where they will learn about Samoan dances, immerse themselves in Samoan cultural practices, and practice basic elements of the Samoan language.
Participants are required to attend weekly rehearsals held every Saturday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the designated location starting in early May. There are no registration fees for this program, making it accessible to all eligible individuals.
The primary purpose of the Tausala Manaia Dance Group's program is to promote and celebrate Samoan culture among young people. By engaging in this cultural experience, the program aims to foster a stronger sense of community and connection among Samoan youth. Through learning traditional dances and language, the program seeks to help participants develop a deeper appreciation for their heritage and build lasting relationships within their cultural community.
